Irina Bochkova

People`s Artist of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Irina Bochkova is a graduate of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Yu. Yankelevitch class) and the Moscow Conservatory postgraduate school (teacher – Yu. Yankelevitch).

She is a laureate of the All-Union Competition (Moscow, 1961, I prize), the 2nd International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow, 1962, II prize) and the Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris (1963, I prize).

Since 1966 has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory, at first – as an assistant of Yu. Yankelevitch, and from 1973 has her own class. From 2007 she is the head of the Violin Department and gives master-classes in Russia and abroad.

Irina Bochkova has served on the juries of numerous competitions among which is the International Tchaikovsky Competition (1994, 1998) and the Jacques Thibaud International Violin Competition (Paris, 1987, 1993).

Since 1962 Irina Bochkova is a soloist of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonics. She has toured in the USA, France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, Yugoslavia, Singapore, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and other countries.

She performed with such eminent conductors as E. Svetlanov, Yu. Temirkanov, Seiji Ozawa, Fernand Quinet, Roberto Benzi, A. Dmitriev, M. Jansons, I. Rakhlin, Yu. Nikolaevsky, I. Spiller and A. Vedernikov.

She also performed in the ensemble with P. Casals, M. Khorshovsky, Radu Lupu, Yu. Istomin, Br. Lucca and others.

Repertoire of Irina Bochkova consists of more than 40 concerts and major pieces with the orchestra, compositions for violin solo and chamber compositions. Discography of I. Bochkova includes 8 records, 5 CD`s (incl. Ten Sonatas of L. van Beethoven and Five Sonatas of P. Tchaikovsky).
